We are supporting a leading specialty chemicals business to appoint a Technical Service & Application Specialist. This is a customer-facing technical role for a strong chemical expert who enjoys being the bridge between what customers want and what chemistry can deliver.
You’ll work closely with customers to understand formulation challenges, performance targets, cost and regulatory constraints—then recommend the right ingredient solutions and support implementation through trials, troubleshooting, and technical guidance.

Key Responsibilities
- Act as the technical interface for customers across Home Care/ Personal Care, and Pharma/Healthcare ingredients.
- Translate customer requirements into clear technical solutions: ingredient selection, formulation guidance, performance trade-offs, and problem-solving
- Provide application support including trials, benchmarking, troubleshooting, and technical recommendations to ensure successful adoption
- Support commercial teams by presenting technical value, building credibility, and progressing opportunities through the customer’s evaluation process
- Gather and structure voice-of-customer insights to inform product positioning and portfolio direction (what’s working, what’s missing, what competitors are doing)
- Prepare and deliver technical documentation and communication: formulation notes, test summaries, comparisons, and clear recommendations
- Travel to customer sites across the region for meetings, trials, and technical discussions
Job Requirements
- Master’s or PhD in Chemistry (or closely related discipline)
- Strong understanding of formulation chemistry relevant to Home Care and/or Personal Care (surfactants, polymers, rheology, preservatives, solvents, functional additives, etc.) / Pharma-grade specialty chemicals
- Experience in technical service, application development, formulation, or customer-facing R&D within specialty chemicals/ingredients
- Confident communicator who can engage customers—from lab teams to business stakeholders—and explain technical decisions clearly
- Practical, hands-on mindset: able to diagnose issues, propose options, and move fast without overcomplicating
Willingness and flexibility to travel for customer meetings and trials
