A leading international chemical manufacturer is seeking an experienced HSE leader to head its site-wide safety function and serve as a key member of the plant Leadership Team.
This is a strategic leadership position forming part of the plant Leadership Team, offering the opportunity to influence site-wide safety culture, operational excellence and continuous improvement across a complex process manufacturing environment.

Leading a team of approximately 10 safety professionals (with 7 direct reports), you will partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Projects and Corporate functions to strengthen safety culture and ensure regulatory compliance while supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the site’s safety strategy aligned with global business objectives.
- Lead all safety, process safety and environmental management activities across the manufacturing facility.
- Drive continual improvement in safety performance through proactive risk identification, incident investigations and corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, corporate standards and international best practices.
- Champion Process Safety Management and Major Hazard Facility requirements.
- Build a strong behavioural safety culture throughout the organisation.
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing safety team while building future leadership capability.
- Provide strategic guidance to senior leadership on operational risks and safety performance.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, regulatory authorities and external partners on safety initiatives.
Job Requirements
We are looking for an experienced safety leader with:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Safety or a related discipline.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience within a major process manufacturing environment.
- Proven leadership experience managing both managers and individual contributors.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across multiple levels of the organisation.
- Demonstrated experience driving organisational change and building a positive safety culture.
Experience within Oil & Gas, Refining, Petrochemical, Energy or Specialty Chemicals will be highly regarded.
