- Location: Singapore
- International MNC
- Senior Management Appointment
- Permanent role
Job Details
We are partnering with a leading international organisation to identify a senior Process Safety and Safety Leadership professional who will take ownership of the safety agenda for a major, state-of-the-art process facility in Singapore.
Reporting directly to the VP, Site Operations, this person will operate as part of the plant’s senior leadership structure and will have significant influence over how safety is governed, embedded and continuously strengthened across the organisation.
The mandate goes considerably beyond managing a Safety department.
The successful individual will be expected to bring together deep Process Safety expertise, senior leadership capability and organisational influence — setting the direction for safety while building the culture, systems and leadership behaviours required to sustain a high-performing major-hazard operation.
The mandate
You will have broad ownership for the site’s safety framework, with particular emphasis on:
- Process Safety leadership across a complex major-hazard manufacturing environment.
- Establishing and continuously strengthening the plant’s Process Safety Management philosophy, standards and governance.
- Providing credible technical leadership around major accident hazards, process risk, operational discipline and risk management.
- Acting as a senior adviser to the VP and Site Leadership Team on significant safety and operational-risk matters.
- Translating global corporate safety expectations into a practical and sustainable site-wide safety culture.
- Influencing Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Projects and other functions so that safety ownership sits throughout the business — rather than solely within the Safety team.
- Leading and developing an experienced Safety organisation while ensuring the function operates as a strategic business partner to Operations.
- Building strong relationships with corporate stakeholders, regional/global functions, regulators and other external stakeholders.
- Driving organisational learning from incidents, risk identification and operational experience.
- Creating the leadership behaviours, accountability and operating discipline necessary for a mature Process Safety culture.
The underlying position requires substantial expertise across major-hazard installations, process-safety compliance, risk management and incident learning, alongside the ability to shape organisational culture and influence stakeholders in a complex matrix environment.
Job Requirements
We are particularly interested in senior professionals who have developed their careers within:
Refining | Petrochemicals | Chemicals | Oil & Gas | Major Hazard / High-Hazard Process Industries
You are likely to bring:
- Approximately 15+ years of relevant industry experience, with significant depth in Process Safety.
- Strong exposure to operating plants, rather than purely consulting or corporate advisory environments.
- Deep understanding of Process Safety Management and major-hazard risk.
- Credibility discussing complex process risks with senior Operations and Engineering leaders.
- Leadership experience managing professional Safety / Process Safety teams.
- Experience operating within a multinational or highly matrixed organisation.
- The ability to influence senior stakeholders without relying purely on functional authority.
- Demonstrated experience changing safety culture, leadership behaviours and organisational capability.
A combination of strong technical judgement and the executive presence required to operate at senior-management level.
What makes this opportunity different
- Direct reporting line to the VP, Site Operations
- Senior-management visibility and influence
- Full ownership of the site’s safety agenda
- Significant Process Safety and major-hazard responsibility
- Opportunity to shape safety culture across the entire plant
- State-of-the-art operating environment
- International organisation with strong global standards
- Attractive compensation and benefits package
This opportunity will particularly suit someone who has reached the point where they are no longer interested in simply administering a Safety function.
The organisation is looking for someone capable of setting the safety agenda, challenging the organisation, influencing senior leadership and creating a culture where Process Safety is embedded into the way the entire plant operates.
Please be advised that due to the considerable number of applications we receive, we are only able to contact candidates who meet our client’s requirements.
We appreciate your understanding and wish you the best in your career endeavors.
