R&D Manager – Specialty Chemicals (Singapore)

A well-established Specialty Chemicals company is looking for an experienced R&D Manager to lead product development and technical initiatives from its Singapore site. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both hands-on formulation work and driving projects with regional impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage R&D activities, including new product development, formulation improvement, and application testing.
- Work closely with commercial, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory teams to support customer needs and product launches.
- Provide technical guidance to internal teams and customers, including troubleshooting and product recommendations.
- Oversee laboratory operations, ensure safety compliance, and maintain high testing standards.
- Manage and develop a small team of chemists/technologists.
- Participate in regional and global R&D discussions as required.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related fields.
- 7–12 years of R&D experience within specialty chemicals, coatings, adhesives, resins, additives, polymers, or a similar domain.
- Strong formulation experience and familiarity with analytical/testing methods.
- Proven ability to manage projects and work cross-functionally with commercial and operations teams.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior staff is an advantage.
Good communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a practical, structured approach to work.
